Your quarterly, county magazine East Lothian Life (copies available from Belhaven Smokehouse stall) has a great Cooking is Fun section using produce from Haddington Farmers' Market.
Grown locally, milled locally and ready to be baked in your kitchen, Wheatrig Flour adds a flourish to your baking and is available in 1.5kg bags and, from September, can also be purchased in 20kg sacks.
Wheatrig Flour is 100% natural and has not been bleached. This means that it retains a natural, wheat-like smell and, when baked, may appear slightly brown in colour. This is normal and the taste will be just as delicious and we also make a slightly coarser flour for bread-making!
Local growers and producers take personal pride in the food they bring to Haddington Farmers' Market and want you to enjoy it. The emphasis is on freshness, quality and value for money. Buying locally means you can ask how the food is produced and grown and at the same time the producer appreciates customer feedback.
You can talk directly to the producer about the provenance of the food and the growing/rearing methods. The feedback is amazing and encourages producers to be evermore innovative with the products they offer.
